Family Yoga

Practice yoga with your kids.
Tesch them to be aware of their bodies.
How they feel.
How they move.

Teach them focus.
And stillness.

Teach them a togetherness you can share for a lifetime.

Share Yoga with Children

Yoga is for anybody.
Any age.

My children love to play "yoga teacher" and lead each other in practice.
They know poses.
They make up poses. (Sideways dog!)
They entertwine fitness and wholeness and imaginative play.

It is a beautiful thing to behold.

Warrior 1 - Virabhadrasana 1

"Whatever you are physically, male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside."
- Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel

Bridge - Setu Bandha Sarvangasana

"Let yourself be silently drawn
by the strange pull of what
you really love.
It will not lead you astray."
-Rumi

Meta Wheel

Anyone who genuinely and consistently with both hands looks for something, will find it.
                                                                                        -Rumi

3 wheels are better than 1.
2 hearts are lighter than 1.
2 hands are stronger than 1.

Finding strength within one's vulnerabilities isn't the easy thing.
It's the thing that makes one's heart free.

Connections

"Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond."
-Rumi

I so enjoy the people I work with.
From the moment I meet them, I am energized with possibilties.
This dynamic chemistry of a love of something, connecting us in a new breath of expression.
It's lovely.
They are lovely.

Thank you for sharing in it.

Fun Friday

Life is a Fun Slide.
A little scary at the top.
Lots of bumps.
Not what you expected.
WANT TO GO AGAIN.

Open Shoulders

This is where my body needs to be today.
Releasing the tension, opening the space between the shoulders.

Opening new space in my heart.
Breathing into that space.
And letting it grow.

Crescent Lunge Variation

I am reminded today during my practice that some things are hard to do/endure/accept.

There is a stillness after pushing through a difficult pose.
As there is a stillness when I push through my difficult mind.
A love to embrace.

An energy to share in.
A victory to make mine.

What victory will be yours today?

Upward Bow (Wheel) - Urdhva Dhanurasana

“Yoga is almost like music in a way; there’s no end to it.”

Inverted Lotus - Padmasana

Some days, I am strong in my practice.
I feel new, somehow.
I do new things.

Some days, I am not feeling as strong.
I feel new, somehow.
I do old things.
They don't feel the same.

My challenge is to really connect with who I am in my present practice.
Knowing that I struggle to do the same things I did 16 years ago.
Knowing I have struggled through and can do things I didn't think I would.

It's who you are in a moment.
That moment.
The moment.
It's who you are when you get there.

Outdoor Yoga - Om In the Outside

Om. On the inside.

It's hot.
There are noises.

But as your practice progresses, the noise becomes a hum.
A mantra.

At one with your breath.
And your life.

Outside, you connect to life.

The life of your fellow practitioners.
The life of the Earth.

Crickets.
Birds.

And by the end you are connected to a greater spirit.

In a new way.

Do yoga outside.
Connect with the Earth.
Let it connect with you.
